I have 2 identical links on same page but with different anchor text. I know google will retain only one link for page rank, but I would like to know if the second anchor text will reduce the importance of the first anchor text (for keywords). Thanks.

Page Rank is a complex mathematical function. Assuming you have a high PR page and you are linking to some external Web site or page page. Google will take count your links to external Web page or Web site and will take a mean; so effective link to same Web site or Web page will be
n/n. Propogated Page Rank depends how many other external links you have on that page.

Different anchor text is not a problem but it should be prominent in linked to Web page: like might be in
title,
h1 tags, headings of conent and repeating in body of Web page. Additonally, can be in
meta description also.
Different anchor text is not a problem if linked from Web page has high Page Rank and very less or no other outgoing links. However, please note that anchor text should be as much as contextual. On other hand if Page Rank of linked page is low, there are many outgoing links and anchor texts of outgoing links are irrelevant, then it will reduce importance of anchor texts (or search keywords).
